Fly and never come down
Kelli Maeshiro

  • Mixed Media
    40” x 40” x 84

  • A mixed media piece exploring abstraction in terms of its formlessness or anti-form, its material deconstruction via process, producing meta-nar- ratives about transitory states of being and sublime transfor- mation, that allow metaphors of temporality and transport to come across like organic material, or atmospheric mass, guiding lights and transport vessels.

The sculptural work are composed like tissue formation or cellular membranes, that flow, grow, and connect across its threshold. Incorporating a variety of materials the work reveals the process of its manufacture, an apparent critique on the de-skilling of craft in post- modernist fashion, similar in approach by artists of process art or scatter art inclinations such as Barry Le Va, Polly Apfelbaum, or Sarah Sze.

  • Steel, Strobe Lights, Water. Size Variable

  • The interactive art installation seamlessly blend the elegance of water droplets in motion with The precision of stroboscopic lighting. This installation explores The beauty and fluidity of motion in The context of nature and technology.

At the heart of installation, a series of thin, transparent tubes is suspended from the ceiling in an intricate network of patterns and shapes. These tubes release water droplets at controlled intervals. The droplets fall gracefully. each one representing a unique moment of motion.

Strategically positioned strobe lights encircle the area where the droplets fall. These lights are programmed to flash at precise intervals freezing the water droplets in mid air. The timing of the strobes creates an illusion of suspend motion, revealing the shapes and patterns formed by the droplets.

Beyond the End An Eternal End (Portal)
Jao San Pedro

  • Single-channel video 7minutes, 7seconds (Loop) Edition of 5

  • Bodies and landscapes disappear altogether in Beyond the End, an Eternal End. Passing through several filters and generators, the errors of the initial inputs are heightened, surfacing the inherent frailty of simulations and technologies’ capacity to capture, rendering bodies and landscapes as unscannable or incomprehensible figures. What is left are mere registers of malfunctions. Formlessness and the inability to capture form, rather than signaling a conclusive termination, present a means to deconstruct the artificial boundaries imposed on our under- standing of reality. These errors and disappearances propose a pathway to wield the ever-fluid, ever-transforming nature of our world, where the immaterial and the material, natural and unnatural, perpetually intertwine, shatter, and reconstitute.
